In “Vaguely Pacific” Luke Brandeberry invites you to take the plunge into his first independent album. Allow yourself to experience the power music has, as it can touch all of our most basic human emotions. Many of these original songs are autobiographical; some are musings about life in general. They run the gamut from the purely entertaining through the sentimental to the darkly dismal. There is a meld of emotions and rhythm tied closely together, ranging from upbeat, singer/songwriter pop songs, to down-tempo, folksy ballads.
Brandeberry's music is both a mirror to his soul and his salvation. Born in Salem, Oregon, Luke's mother surrendered him to his father before he was born. Growing up as an only child, and without a caring mother in the household, he developed a unique hunger for the limelight. As early as pre-school he basked in the attention he received for my artistic abilities. But Luke soon discovered that music touched him emotionally in a way that art could not. he was hooked. He took guitar lessons from the time he was five until he was thirteen. Afterwards Luke continued to play on his own, always most interested in the songs he created himself.
“Vaguely Pacific” is the culmination of his dream. It is an album that both expresses who he is while, he hopes, touching all of you. Brandeberry believes that a single song can express a myriad of emotions if there is just the right mix of tone and lyrics. That is his goal as a writer and a performer, to convey his ideas and emotions so that you as a listener can understand and enjoy the stories he wants to tell.
